Weapons
Weapons are inventory items. Use one from your inventory or hotbar to draw it, and use it again to put it away. Each gun remembers its own ammo, wear, attachments and tint, and it keeps them when you hand it to someone else.
Getting a gun legally
Ammu-Nation stores (on the map) sell knives, bats and hatchets to anyone. Pistols and pistol ammo are only sold if you hold a weapon licence.
You get the licence by applying for a weapon permit at the courthouse clerk desk. The police evaluate you, and then the court decides. If it's approved, a Weapon License card goes into your pockets. See Permits & Court Clerk. If you lose the card, see City Hall.
Ammo
- Hold the weapon you want to load.
- Use the matching ammo box from your inventory: Pistol ammo, SMG ammo, Shotgun ammo, Rifle ammo or Sniper ammo. Loading takes a few seconds, and you can keep walking.
- The wrong ammo type, a full gun or empty hands won't work.
Wear and repairs
Every shot wears the gun down a little, and its durability shows on the item in your inventory. At 0% the gun is broken: you keep it and can still hold it, but it won't fire until it's repaired.
Gunsmith bench. Walk up to a gunsmith bench and press E. You see every gun in your pockets with its durability and the price to fix it. Pick one and press Repair, or Repair all. It's instant, back to 100%, paid in cash. Guns inside a bag don't show - take them out first.
- The city bench in La Mesa charges a city price per 1% that depends on the type of gun (pistols are cheapest, snipers the most).
- Gun stores run by players can have their own benches. The owner sets one price per 1% for every gun, and the money goes to the store. A closed store can't repair.
Weapon Repair Kit. A Weapon Repair Kit adds 40% durability and works anywhere. Use it with the damaged gun in your hand, or use it from your inventory and pick the gun. It takes a few seconds; press X to stop (the kit is only used up if you finish). Ammu-Nation sells them.
If you own a gun store, place benches from your office computer (Locations, Gunsmith bench). Ranks that can change settings set the price per 1% on the bench itself and see what the bench earned today.
Guns on your body
Guns you carry in your pockets show on your character, and other players see them. By default long guns (rifles, shotguns, SMGs, snipers, MGs) go on your back - two at most, crossed - and pistols sit on your hip. The gun in your hand isn't shown twice, and nothing shows while you're in a vehicle. Guns inside a bag stay hidden.
Gun menu. Type /gunmenu to choose where each type of gun is carried: Back (2 fit), Chest (1), Hip (2) or Thigh (2), or Hidden. The sliders move and tilt the gun so it sits right on your outfit, and the camera turns so you can see it (Front / Back / turn buttons). Keep the gun in your pockets, not in your hand, to see it while you adjust. Press Save - everyone near you then sees it that way. Your settings are saved on your character.
Draw styles
Pick how you take a gun out and put it away, separately for each type:
- /pistoldraw - pistols: Default, Quick, Gangster, Cop, Hip, Chest, Ankle
- /smgdraw - SMGs: Default, Quick, Gangster, Hip, Chest, Back
- /ardraw - rifles, shotguns, snipers and MGs: Default, Quick, Gangster, Chest, Back
The command alone opens the menu on the Draw style tab, where Try plays the animation. Add the style to set it at once, e.g. /pistoldraw cop. Default is the normal behaviour: a fast belt draw when you wear a duty holster, otherwise the waistband draw. Cop also swaps your duty holster to empty while the gun is out.
Thanks! Staff will look at it.
