Jobs & Duty
More than one job
You can hold several jobs at once and pick which one you're working:
| Job slots | |
|---|---|
| Everyone | 2 |
| Gold | 3 |
| Platinum | 4 |
| Diamond | 5 |
| Prestige | 6 |
Only one government job at a time: Police, Night City Medical, Fire Department or Department of Justice. You can't be a cop and a paramedic at once.
One job is your active job. You can switch whenever you like. Switching clocks you out of the job you were on.
On and off duty
- Police, Night City Medical and the Fire Department start every login off duty. Clock in when you start your shift.
- Every other job starts on duty.
You can clock in and out from anywhere. Standing still for about 15 minutes on duty clocks you out automatically.
Paychecks
Every 15 minutes you're in the city, your active job pays into your bank:
- On duty: your rank's full wage.
- Off duty: 10% of it, as a small retainer.
- Unemployed: $30 welfare from the city.
Each payment pops up as a small gold Paycheck card in the top right, showing the amount and what it's made of. The This Shift panel in the Job Menu (F6) counts down to your next paycheck.
Time is counted to the second, so going on and off duty never earns more than staying on. Time spent AFK doesn't count at all.
If you log out or the city restarts halfway to a paycheck, the time you've already worked is kept. It carries on when you come back, and you're never paid twice for the same minutes.
Government jobs are paid by the city. Their wages start at $60 per 15 minutes for the lowest rank and rise to $90 for the top rank. A business pays from its own account. If the account is empty, that paycheck is missed.
VIP bonus: VIP members get extra on top of every paycheck, retainer and welfare payment: Gold +5%, Platinum +10%, Diamond +15%, Prestige +25%. The city always pays the bonus, so you still get it when a business can't pay your wage.
Some business ranks earn commission, a share of every sale you make, instead of a wage or on top of it. The owner decides for each rank.
Ranks and bosses
Every job has ranks. Bosses can:
- offer you a job. You get the offer and choose to accept or decline. Offers wait for you if you're offline and expire after 7 days.
- change your rank, set your callsign (for example
1-A-12) and let you go.
A boss can only hire, promote or fire people below their own rank.
You can quit a job at any time. Every job you leave stays on your character's work history.
Your own business
Business owners create their own job: its name, its ranks and what each rank earns (wage, commission or both). To open a business you need a business permit from staff. Then use the New Business tab in the Job Menu.
Your business starts with $0 in its account. Deposit money from your bank in Ranks & Pay so the business can pay wages.
Everything in the menu also works through chat commands:
/jobs: your jobs, slots and duty/job <name>: switch your active job/duty: clock in or out/quitjob <name>: leave a job/acceptjob <number>or/declinejob <number>: answer a job offer- Bosses:
/hire <id> <rank>,/setrank <id> <rank>,/callsign <id> <callsign>,/fire <id>,/employees
Thanks! Staff will look at it.
