Drug Enforcement

For officers - burn and bag weed plants, seize weed tables, charge by the gram, /bagdrugs, smell, drug tests and K9.

Police & EMS5 min read

This is the officer's field guide to the drug trade. Police can burn weed plants, bag buds as evidence, seize gang weed tables, see a suggested charge when they search someone, and smell or test for weed. Every gram you bag as evidence pays you a seizure bonus.

Drug calls reach you through dispatch:

  • "Drug deal reported": a local saw a hand-to-hand deal (with whether the caller saw a man or a woman). Busy corners and rich neighbourhoods call more often.
  • A dealer haggled too hard and the local pulled out a phone.
  • "Suspicious meeting": a tip about a big buy going down somewhere out of the way.
  • A break-in call when someone is breaking the padlock on a weed table (not every time).

Everything else, like patches in the hills and hidden tables, you find through investigation, informants and patrols. To understand what you are looking at, read Drugs Overview and Growing Weed.

Before you begin

You must be police and on duty. Off duty, none of the police options show up.

Weed plants

Walk up to a plant, cycle the options with Left / Right and press E.

  1. Bag the buds as evidence (ripe plants only, needs an empty evidence bag): you get a filled evidence bag with the grams, and a seizure bonus. The plant drops back to budding, it is not destroyed.
  2. Burn the plant (needs a lighter): a few seconds of work and the plant goes up in flames.

The mother plant (the first plant of a patch) burns down to a stump. A stump can grow back if someone keeps watering it, so check burned patches again later.

Bag first, then burn. You get the evidence and the bonus, and the patch still goes up in smoke.

2

Weed tables

  1. Walk up to the table and pick Seize the table (E).
  2. After about ten seconds the table loses its gang owner, every bud drying on the rack is bagged as evidence, and the table is sealed for several hours.
  3. The owning gang is told "Police seized your weed table."
3

Searching a suspect

  1. Radial menu → Search → Full search / seize on a suspect with hands up or in cuffs.
  2. When they carry weed, a note appears: "Weed found: N g - suggested charge: ...".
  3. Take the weed into your own pockets.
Suggested chargeRoughly when
Drug traffickingA brick, or a large amount
Possession with intent to sellSeveral baggies, or a moderate amount
Possession of a controlled substanceAny amount

The charge names match the MDT penal code. It's a suggestion: your report and the evidence decide. Wet and dried buds, ground weed, joints, blunts, baggies and bricks all count.

4

/bagdrugs

  1. Make sure you carry an Empty Evidence Bag.
  2. Type /bagdrugs.
  3. All weed in your own pockets goes into one filled evidence bag with the total grams, and you get the seizure bonus.

/bagdrugs bags every weed item you carry. Don't mix evidence from an earlier stop with a new one.

5

Smell and drug tests

  • Where someone smoked a joint or blunt, the spot smells for a while. Walk past on duty and you get "You smell weed nearby - someone smoked here recently".
  • The smoker smells of it for a few minutes. Radial → Tests → Look them over shows "Smells strongly of weed, red eyes".
  • Radial → Tests → Drug test (kit) uses a drug test kit. If they smoked in the last few hours, it shows THC (cannabis) and roughly how long ago, long after the smell is gone.
6

K9

Officers with the K9 division can have the dog sniff a person or a vehicle. It alerts on every weed item, plus other drugs and marked bills.

Costs & rewards

  • Seizure bonus paid to your bank for every gram you bag (plants, tables and /bagdrugs).
  • Fines from drug charges go to the department budget.

Common problems

  • "Police only" - you are not on duty as police. Clock in first.
  • "You need a lighter" - carry a Lighter to burn plants.
  • "There are no ripe buds to bag" - only ripe plants can be bagged. Burn it instead, or come back later.
  • "You need an empty evidence bag" - get more from the armory.
  • "You have no weed on you" - take the weed off the suspect into your own pockets before /bagdrugs.
  • A patch I burned is growing again - the mother stump regrew. Burn it again.
