Stashes & Dead Drops

Hide things in dumpsters, set up dead drops for dark web buyers, hide inside a bin and burn the evidence.

The city's dumpsters are good for more than loot. You can hide a bundle in one, leave goods for a dark web buyer without meeting them, burn the evidence, or climb inside to disappear for a while.

None of it is safe. Other players search the trash, garbage crews empty it, and police search dumpsters for evidence.

Before you begin

  • For hiding things: nothing - any big dumpster or skip works.
  • For dead drops: a Darkweb Tablet and the buyer's dark web handle (see The Darkweb).
  • For fires: a Lighter (you keep it) or a Molotov (used up).

Hiding items

  1. Press E on a dumpster or skip and pick Hide items.
  2. A small stash, "Your hiding spot", opens with a few slots. Put things in and close it.
  3. Next time, the option reads Open your hiding spot.
  4. Hidden things stay for about a day, then rot away with the trash.

A hiding spot is not safe: anyone searching the trash there can find your bundle and take it, a garbage crew emptying the bin throws everything away, and on-duty police searching for evidence usually find it.

Dead drops

  1. Agree the deal with the buyer on /dw and get their handle.
  2. Hide the goods in a dumpster (Hide items).
  3. Press E on the same dumpster, pick Mark as dead drop and type the buyer's handle.
  4. The buyer gets a dark web message and a red circle near the dumpster on their map.
  5. The buyer presses E on the dumpster and picks Pick up dead drop.

How payment happens is up to you two - the dead drop only moves the goods.

Setting a dumpster on fire

  1. Press E on a dumpster or skip and pick Set on fire. A few seconds later it's burning.
  2. While it burns, pick Throw items into the fire - anything you drop in is gone within seconds.
  3. Everything hidden inside burns too.
  4. When the fire goes out, the dumpster is ash for about an hour - nobody can search it or hide anything in it.

A burning dumpster gets noticed. Someone always calls 911.

Dumping evidence

Weapons or clothes thrown in a dumpster unburnt can be found by police, bagged as evidence and matched to your DNA if you're on file. Burn them instead.

Hiding inside

  1. Press E on a dumpster or skip and pick Hide inside.
  2. The screen goes dim and black & white; look around through the gap with the mouse. Nobody outside can see you.
  3. Press E to climb back out.

Pick dumpsters in quiet back alleys - fewer people search them. Agree on a dumpster in RP terms over /dw ("the green one behind the laundromat"), move goods in and out fast, and look around before you walk up to a drop.

Common problems

  • "No good hiding spot left in this one" - someone is already using it. Try another dumpster.
  • My stash is gone - it rotted after a day, someone found it, a garbage crew emptied it, or police searched it.
  • "You need a lighter or a molotov" - carry one to set a fire.
  • I can't search or hide in this one - it burned down and is ash for a while.
  • I got pulled out of the bin - anyone who opens the lid finds you, and police searching it yank you out.
  • The buyer can't find the drop - check you typed their handle correctly when marking it.
