Lumberjack - Night City Timber

Fell trees in Paleto Forest, cut them into logs and haul them to the sawmill. Solo or with a crew of up to 6.

How to start

  1. Find the Night City Timber pin on the map (Paleto Forest sawmill).
  2. Press E on Hank, the camp boss and pick Start shift. You need a driving licence.
  3. You change into work clothes (they stay on until you clock out) and your truck waits in the truck bay.
  • Choker Setter / Feller: a flatbed (6 logs).
  • Bucker and up: a logging rig with a log trailer (12 logs). The trailer hitches itself; if it doesn't, reverse onto it.
  1. The felling area is on your GPS.

The work

  1. Fell - walk up to a tree with the orange paint mark and press E. Saw, then hit the skill check.
  • Clean cut: the tree falls roughly away from you. Rough cut: it can twist a long way to the side.
  • TIMBER! A red zone shows where it will land for 3 seconds. Get out of it - a falling tree knocks you down and hurts. A helmet look takes most of the damage.
  1. Buck - the felled tree has 2-4 sections. Press E on each one to cut it into a log (small skill check).
  2. Move the logs - on each log pick:
  • Choke & winch it onto the truck - the truck (or trailer) must be within 20 m. Fastest.
  • Carry the log - heavy, one at a time, no running or jumping. Take it to the truck (E on the truck) or straight to the log deck.
  1. Unload - drive to the sawmill log deck and press E (on foot or in the truck). You get paid per log.

Pay

  • $12 per log, clean logs +15%, rough logs -25% (quality = how well you felled and bucked it).
  • Shift target 40 logs (more for a crew: +60% per extra member). Past the target every log pays x1.5 overtime.
  • Finish shift at the camp boss with the target met for a $200 completion bonus (minus $150 if the truck isn't back at camp).
  • Career tier adds up to +30%, VIP adds its bonus.
  • Crews split each unload between everyone who pulled their weight (felling, bucking and loading all count). Stand around doing nothing and you get no cut.

Career tiers

LevelTierPay

3Feller+5%
6Bucker+10% (logging rig)

Rewards shop (Timber Points)

  • Consumables: water, coffee, sandwich, energy drink, bandage.
  • Splitting Hatchet - lets you split firewood at the mill bench.
  • Pro Saw Chain - felling and bucking 30% faster, easier felling check.
  • Felling Wedge - you choose which way the tree falls (away, left, right).
  • Long Choker Cable - winch logs from 35 m.
  • Looks: Forestry Helmet & Visor (falling-tree protection), Flannel & Braces, Timber Boss (helmet included).

Gear is bought once and works on its own.

Mill bench + timber buyer (anyone, any time)

  • Mill bench (E): Log -> Debarked Log + Bark; Debarked Log -> 3 Wood Planks + Wood Scraps; Debarked Log -> 4 Firewood (needs a hatchet).
  • Dolores, the timber buyer buys planks ($3), firewood ($2), scraps ($1) and bark ($1), up to $1,500 an hour.
  • A log you were carrying when the shift ended is yours to process.

Commands

  • /lumberboard - job board while on shift (your keybind if one is set).
  • /lumberdrop - drop the log you are carrying (it is lost).

Tips

  • Back the truck up to the trees before you buck - then just winch everything.
  • Trees grow back 12 minutes after they are cleared.
  • Never stand in front of a tree someone is cutting.

Staff

  • /lumberjackplace boss|buyer|bay|trailer|deck|bench|area - move an NPC / place to where you stand. Moving area moves the default tree rings (and resets the field).
  • /lumberjacktree add (tree at your feet), remove (nearest staff tree), clear, defaults on|off, regrow (every tree stands again), list.
  • /lumberjackplaces, /lumberjacklevel, /lumberjackpoints, /lumberjackcrews, /lumberjackendshift, /lumberjackoutfit save|reset <standard|helmet|braces|boss>.
  • F9 -> Jobs -> Civilian jobs -> Lumberjack: places, crews, outfits, points.
