Electronics Shop

Buy phones, gadgets and DJ gear, get worn devices repaired, or run your own electronics shop.

Jobs & Businesses4 min read

Electronics shops sell phones, SIM cards, tablets, laptops, radios, gadgets, DJ gear and home tech. The city's default store is Digital Den in Little Seoul, run by an NPC clerk. Players can open their own electronics shop, and can even take Digital Den over.

Shops with staff on duty also repair worn phones, tablets and gadgets at their repair bench.

None in the city right now.

Before you begin

  • To buy: nothing but money. Pay with cash or card.
  • To get a repair: a shop with a technician on duty.
  • To own a shop: an Electronics shop business, handed out by staff (ask in a Discord ticket). See Owning a Business.
  • Ranks: Sales assistant, Technician, Store manager and Owner. Repairs need the repair permission.

Buying

  1. Walk to the shop counter and press E.
  2. Pick a category and an item, choose how many and pay with cash or card.

Tablets & laptopsTablet, Laptop, USB Drive

A yellow bar at the top means an NPC clerk is serving you, either at Digital Den or at a player shop that is closed. NPC prices are the city price plus a markup. When a player shop is open you buy from their stock at their prices, and each item shows "N left".

Phone cases

Phone cases are sold per colour, so pick the colour in the shop. Use your phone once, then use the case: the case is used up and your phone takes that colour.

3

Getting a device repaired

Phones, burner phones, tablets, laptops, radios, smartwatches, cameras, drones and police tablets wear down over time.

  1. Go to an electronics shop with a technician on duty.
  2. Hand the worn device to the technician.
  3. They fix it back to 100% at the repair bench and hand it back. The price is up to the shop, usually by invoice.
4

Repairing as staff

  1. Clock in and press E at the repair bench ("[E] Repair bench").
  2. The worn devices in your pockets are listed with their condition. Take the customer's device first.
  3. Press Repair: a short progress bar, then "... repaired - good as new". One Electronics Repair Kit is used from the stock room (or your pockets).
  4. Hand the device back and charge the customer with the register or an invoice.
5

Setting up your own shop (owner)

  1. Sign in at your office computer → Locations → Shop counter. Stand behind the till and place it. Customers buy here from your stock room at your prices.
  2. Locations → Repair bench (optional): where your staff fix devices.
  3. Order stock on the Orders tab and do the supply run. Set your prices in Settings → Prices.
  4. Open the shop.

Place your Shop counter inside Digital Den in Little Seoul and you take that store over: its NPC clerk and blip go away and it becomes yours.

6

The Shop page

Office computer → Shop shows counter sales, income, sales lost to the NPC and repairs over 7 days, which locations are placed, items running low, and recent sales and repairs.

Costs & rewards

  • NPC clerk prices: the city price plus 25%.
  • Your prices: set them yourself in Settings → Prices. You earn the difference between the stock order cost and your price.
  • Repairs: you charge what you like. Each repair uses one Electronics Repair Kit.

While your shop is closed, an NPC clerk stands at your counter and sells at the city price plus markup. You get nothing from those sales: the Shop page counts them as "Lost to the NPC". Stay open to earn.

Common problems

  • An item is missing or sold out at a player shop - their stock room has run out. Try another shop or ask the staff to restock.
  • Nothing is listed at the repair bench - the device must be in your own pockets, and it has to be worn.
  • Can't use the repair bench - you must be on duty and have the repair permission.
  • The repair won't start - there's no Electronics Repair Kit in the stock room or your pockets. Order more.
  • Your sales went to the NPC - your shop was set to closed. Open it when someone is working.
