Vehicle Classes
Every car is rated D, C, B, A or S. The class sets its top speed range, its price and the licence you need.
Every car and motorbike in the city has a class. The class decides:
- How fast it can go: each class has a top speed range, and no car goes past the top of its class.
- How it handles: better classes get slightly better acceleration, grip and brakes.
- What it costs at the dealership.
- Which licence you need to drive it legally (see Licenses).
Cars are rated automatically from their real performance, so two cars of the same type can land in different classes.
| Class | Name | Top speed range (roughly) | Price range |
|---|---|---|---|
| D | Economy | 85 - 100 mph | Lowest |
| C | Standard | 100 - 115 mph | Low |
| B | Performance | 110 - 125 mph | Middle |
| A | Sports | 120 - 135 mph | High |
| S | Super | 130 - 145 mph | Highest |
Staff tune these numbers over time. The spec card in game always shows the real current values for the car you are looking at.
Before you begin
Nothing - every car already has a class. To drive a car legally you need a licence of at least its class.
Check a car at the dealership
- Walk up to a showroom car. A spec card appears on the right.
- Read the class badge and name, the top speed (stock → fully upgraded) and five bars: speed, acceleration, handling, braking, durability.
- Walk to another car and the card changes. The dealership catalogue also shows each car's class next to its price.
Check your own car
- Sit in the driver seat.
- Type /specs. The spec card shows for a few seconds.
- Type /vehspeed to show your live speed with the car's class and its speed limit at the bottom of the screen. Type it again to hide it.
Upgrades and wear
- A stock car sits in the lower part of its class range.
- Mechanic upgrades (better engine, brakes, gearbox, turbo and so on) push it further up its range, but never past the top of its class. An upgraded A class car never becomes an S class car.
- Worn parts make a car slower. If your car feels slow, have a mechanic check it. See Fuel & Repairs and Customizing Your Vehicle.
D and C cars are only capped and never get extra power, so a slow scooter stays a slow scooter. Faster classes get enough power to actually reach their range.
Store-only classes
Above S there are three classes you can only get from the Gem store (see Gems):
| Class | Notes |
|---|---|
| Bronze Imports | Faster than any road car |
| Gold Imports | Faster and tougher than Bronze |
| Diamond Imports | The fastest and toughest cars in the city |
All of them need a Class S licence.
Other vehicles
- Police cars have their own ladder (Patrol, Pursuit, Interceptor) and only police can drive them. Ambulances and fire trucks use the normal classes.
- Helicopters, planes, boats, bicycles and trains have no class and no class speed limit. Aircraft and boats need a pilot or boat licence instead.
Crash damage
Economy (D) cars take a little more crash damage than other road classes. Motorbikes take more damage than cars of the same class. Store import cars are tougher than any road car.
Common problems
- My car won't go faster after an upgrade - it has reached the top of its class range. Upgrades never pass the class limit.
- My car is slower than its spec card - worn parts slow it down. Get it checked at a mechanic.
- I bought a car but get an "illegal to drive" warning - your licence class is lower than the car's class. Check the spec card before you buy.
- /specs does nothing - you must be in the driver seat of a car or motorbike. Aircraft, boats and bicycles have no class.
Thanks! Staff will look at it.
