House Robbery
Some houses around the city have front doors you can pick. Inside, every cabinet, closet, chest and shelf can be searched once for jewellery, electronics and other things worth selling. You might also find odd things that someone was hiding.
A neighbour may call the police while you break in. For apartments at Tinsel Towers, see Apartment Break-ins.
Before you begin
- A Lockpick or Advanced Pick Set. Big houses have Hard locks and need the advanced pick set.
- Or a crowbar or a gun, if you don't mind the noise.
Get through the door
- Stand at the front door of a house that can be robbed and use your pick from the inventory.
- Play the lock game (see Lockpicking).
- If you fail, your pick may break.
You can also hold a crowbar at the door and press E to pry it, or shoot the lock.
Breaking in has a chance that a neighbour reports an Attempted house robbery to the police.
Search the rooms
- Inside, walk up to a piece of furniture until [E] Search ... shows (bedside cabinet, closet, chest, kitchen cabinets, shelves) and press E.
- Pass the skill check to finish the search. Some furniture is empty, and some holds several things.
- Furniture you or your crew already searched can't be searched again.
- Touching things without gloves can leave fingerprints the police can find.
Get out
- Press E at the front door inside (Leave house).
- The door stays open for a while after the first person goes in, so your crew can walk in with [E] Enter house without picking it again. Later the house locks up and can be robbed again.
If you log off inside, you come back at the front door outside.
Not every door works. Drive the quieter residential streets and look around. A house with nobody around is a better target than one on a busy corner.
After the job
Jewellery and electronics sell at the Pawn Shop. If you find Crypto Sticks, see Crypto (Nightcoin).
Staff can move, disable or add robbable houses in F9 > World Spawns.
Thanks! Staff will look at it.
