Guides for every part of life in the city.

Used Car Lot

The city has one Used Car Lot, run by a player-owned business. Any car you own can be sold there - normal dealership cars, Gem store cars and even imported cars (the buyer becomes the only owner of an import). Cars for sale stand on the lot, and the full list is on the lot computer and in the Used Cars app on your phone. You can buy any time, day or night, even when nobody from the lot is around.

Buying a car

  1. Walk up to a car on the lot and press E, or press E at the lot computer and pick a car. On your phone, open Used Cars.
  2. Check the card: price, class and spec sheet, mileage, owners, crashes and impounds. Press History report for the full timeline.
  3. Press Buy. The price comes out of your bank and the car goes straight to your garage, with the keys, the registration and the insurance moved into your name.
2

Test driving

  1. At the lot, open the car's card and press Test drive.
  2. You get the car at the lot exit for a few minutes. Press X to stop early. When the time is up you are put back at the lot and the car goes back on display.
3

Making an offer

  1. On the car's card (lot or phone), type an amount under the asking price and press Send offer.
  2. The seller - or the lot staff for cars the lot owns - accepts, declines or sends a counter-offer. You get a phone notification either way.
  3. Got a counter? Accept or decline it in Used Cars → Offers & listings, or on the car's card.
  4. Once a price is agreed, the car is held for you for 24 hours at that price. Buy it from the card or the app before then. Your bank is only checked when you buy.

Selling your car on consignment

  1. Drive your car to the lot, park it near the lot computer and get out.
  2. At the lot computer open Sell my car, type your asking price and press Consign. The car leaves your garage and goes on the lot - you still own it until it sells.
  3. When someone buys it, you get the price minus the lot's cut, paid to your bank, even if you are offline. You get a phone message.
  4. Offers on your car come to your phone. Answer them in Used Cars → Offers & listings or at the lot computer.
  5. Changed your mind? Take off sale (lot computer or app) and the car goes back to your garage. Cars that don't sell within 14 days go back to your garage by themselves.

Working at the lot (employees)

  1. Buying cars for the lot: at the lot computer open Buy from customers, pick the seller's car, enter what the lot pays and the price it goes on sale for. The money comes from the business account.
  2. On the office computer's Used cars page you can price the lot's own cars, answer offers on them, post a lot ad and (owner) set the consignment cut.
  3. The owner places the lot computer, up to 12 display spots and the pickup spot on the Locations page. Listed cars fill the display spots by themselves. See Owning a Business.
