Blackjack

Beat the dealer to 21 - betting, hit, stand, double, split and how blackjack pays.

Activities & Entertainment3 min read

Get closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. Up to 4 players share one dealer, and every player plays against the dealer, not against each other.

Card values:

  • 2 to 10 count as their number.
  • Jack, Queen and King count as 10.
  • Ace counts as 1 or 11, whichever is better for you.
  • An Ace plus a 10-value card as your first two cards is a Blackjack.

The shoe uses 6 decks and the dealer stands on soft 17.

Before you begin

  • Casino Chips from the chip cashier - see Casino.
  • A free seat at a blackjack table. Every table shows its minimum and maximum bet.

Playing a hand

  1. Sit at a blackjack table (E at the floating text).
  2. Click a chip (for example 1K), then click the Bet circle as many times as you want. It stops at the table maximum.
  3. Press Place bet. A timer starts and your chips appear on the felt.
  4. Press Deal now (or wait for the timer). Cards are dealt when everyone is ready or the timer runs out.
  5. You get 2 cards face up. The dealer gets one face up and one face down. Your total is shown.
  6. On your turn ("Your turn" and a ding), choose:
  • Hit - take another card. Over 21 is a bust and you lose.
  • Stand - keep what you have.
  • Double - add the same bet again, take exactly one more card, and your turn ends.
  • Split - with two cards of the same value, add the same bet again and play them as two hands.
  1. The dealer flips the hidden card and draws until they have 17 or more.
  2. Your seat shows WIN, LOSE, PUSH or BLACKJACK! and the chips are paid.

Playing with others

  • The 4 seat boxes show who sits where. Your seat has a gold border.
  • Players act one after the other, left to right. The active seat glows and you can see everyone's cards.

Classic basic strategy works here: stand on 17 or more, hit on 11 or less, double on 11, and always split Aces and 8s.

Common problems

  • Your turn was skipped - if you don't act within about 20 seconds, you automatically stand.
  • Can't bet more - the Bet circle stops at the table maximum. Find a table with higher limits (or a VIP table).
  • Double / Split greyed out - you need enough chips for a second bet, and Split needs two cards of the same value.
  • The hand won't start - it waits for everyone to press Deal now, or for the timer to end.
