Vending Machines
Buy soda, snack, coffee and water machines, craft the products, keep them stocked and collect the cash.
Almost every vending machine in the city can be bought. You own it on your own - no business or job needed. You craft the drinks and snacks it sells, load them in, set your prices and collect the cash box.
Machines earn while you're away, but they need care: weekly upkeep, regular restocks and protection from break-ins.
Before you begin
- Money to buy the machine (cash or bank) and to pay the weekly upkeep.
- A free machine slot: one character can own up to 5 machines.
- Ingredients from the Vending supplier to craft the products.
Machine types
| Type | Sells |
|---|---|
| Soda machine | eCola, eCola Light, Sprunk, Sprunk Light, Orangotang, Kurkakola, Junk energy, energy drinks |
| Snack machine | Chips, chocolate bars, candy, cookies, donuts, muffins, Ego Chasers, brownies |
| Coffee machine | Coffee, espresso, hot chocolate, iced coffee, cold brew, tea, green tea |
| Water machine | Water, juice cartons, iced tea, soda bottles |
What a machine can sell is fixed by its type. You choose which of those products to stock.
Buying a machine
- Walk right up to a machine on foot. If nobody owns it you see "[E] For sale - $X" above it.
- Press E. The window shows the price, the upkeep per week, "First week: Included", how many machines you own and every product it can sell.
- Press Pay cash or Buy with bank.
- From now on the prompt says "[E] My machine". Your machines get small "My vending machine" blips that only you see. Type
/mymachinesto list them all.
Buying ingredients
Once you own a machine, the Vending supplier and Vending crafting table blips show on your map.
- Go to the supplier (a dock worker with a clipboard) and press E ("Buy ingredients").
- On the Buy ingredients tab, pick what you need and pay by cash or card.
- The My machines tab lists every machine you own with its stock, cash and upkeep, plus a Waypoint button.
Ingredients include Tin Can,
Empty Bottle,
Sugar,
Ice Cubes,
Coffee Beans, fruit, milk, butter, flour, eggs, honey, salt, potatoes and matcha powder.
Crafting products
- Go to a crafting table and press E at the floating "Craft products" text.
- Pick the machine type, then the product. Missing ingredients show in red and Craft is greyed out.
- Pick an amount (up to 10 crafts in one go) and press Craft. The ingredients are taken right away and a timer counts down.
- Press Collect when it's done. Every craft makes 5 of the product.
| Product | Needs (per 5) |
|---|---|
| 5 tin cans, 2 sugar, 1 ice cubes | |
| 5 tin cans, 2 sugar, 1 lime | |
| 3 potatoes, 1 salt | |
| 2 coffee beans, 1 sugar | |
| 5 empty bottles, 1 ice cubes |
You can walk away while it crafts. Come back to any crafting table later and it shows Ready with a Collect button. Cancel before it finishes gives every ingredient back.
Stocking and prices
- Press E at your machine → Stock & prices.
- Load all puts every one of that product you carry into the machine. The storage bar shows how full it is.
- Switch a product ON to put it on sale. Customers only see products that are on and in stock.
- Type a price and press Enter. Each product has an allowed range ("Allowed $X - $Y").
- Take out gives all of that product back to your pockets.
Cash and upkeep
- Open your machine → Cash & upkeep.
- Collect moves the cash box into your pocket. You also see a 7-day chart, totals and an activity list.
- Pay upkeep ahead with 1 wk or 4 wk from your bank (up to 4 weeks ahead).
If upkeep runs out, it is taken from the machine's cash box when there's enough. If not, you get a red warning on login and in the machine window. After a couple of days overdue, the machine is taken back.
Upgrades
On the Upgrades tab, paid from your bank:
| Upgrade | What it does | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Bigger storage | Holds 200, then 350 items | $5,000 / $12,000 |
| Reinforced lock | Harder to break into | $4,000 / $9,000 |
| Cash safe | Less cash stolen in a break-in | $5,000 / $11,000 |
Break-ins
Other players can try to break into your machine when enough police are in the city. You get an ALARM notification and police get a call. A successful break-in steals part of the cash box and some stock, and the machine shows "Out of order" until you open it and press Repair (paid from your bank).
Selling a machine
On the Sell tab:
- Sell to the city (click twice): you get half of what you paid back, plus the cash box, to your bank.
- Sell to a player: they must stand next to you. Enter their ID and a price → Send offer. They have a short time to accept. The money moves bank to bank and they get the machine with its stock, cash and upgrades.
Costs & rewards
| Machine | Price | Upkeep per week |
|---|---|---|
| Soda | $15,000 | $750 |
| Snack | $15,000 | $750 |
| Coffee | $20,000 | $1,000 |
| Water | $12,000 | $600 |
- A machine holds 100 items before upgrades.
- A repair after a break-in costs $750.
- Prices may be changed by the city.
Common problems
- Can't buy another machine - you already own the maximum of 5.
- Can't buy from your own machine - that's on purpose. Use Take out instead.
- Customers see "Nothing on sale right now" - no product is switched ON with stock in it.
- A price is refused - it's outside that product's allowed range.
- The machine was taken back - it wasn't restocked for 7 days, or upkeep was overdue too long.
- "Out of order" - it was broken into. Open it and press Repair.
Thanks! Staff will look at it.
