Electrician - Night City Power & Light

Keep the lights on in Night City. Fix junction boxes, swap dead street lamps, rewire houses and - once you are a Lineman - bring a whole substation back online with your crew.

How to start

  1. Find the gold Night City Power & Light pin on the map (the Vinewood substation yard).
  2. Press E on Dale, the Line Foreman and pick Start shift.
  3. You change into work clothes (they stay on until you clock out) and your work vehicle waits in the bay.
  4. Pick a work order: Dispatch board in the talk screen, the Operations board, or type /electricianorders anywhere while on shift.
  5. Follow the GPS, do the job, take the next order. Bring the vehicle back and Finish shift at the foreman for your bonus.

Work orders

OrderFromWhat you do
Junction box repairApprenticeFind the box near the GPS point (the closest real box lights up with an E prompt), open it, pass the repair checks, close it up.
Street light outApprenticeGo to the pole. Use the ladder, or park the bucket truck (Lineman) right next to the pole for a faster, fall-free job.
House rewiringElectricianKnock at the front door, then work through the steps: kill the breaker, strip the old wiring, pull new cable, wire the outlets, test.
Substation faultLineman, crew of 2+Two of you hold breaker A and breaker B at the same time to isolate the line, then repair the fault and re-energise + test at the panel.
Storm calloutsAnyoneWhen it rains or storms the board shows more orders and storm callouts pay x1.5.

Junction box faults: blown fuse (carry a Spare Fuse: 1 check instead of 3), loose wiring (2 checks), corroded terminals (3 hard checks, +1 unit).

Shocks

Miss a repair check and you get a shock: you are knocked down and lose a bit of health, and the job needs another go (press E again). Insulated Gloves stop the knock-down and the damage. Ladders can slip - a Tool Belt halves the chance.

Pay

  • $15 per work unit (junction box 3-4, street light 3, house 4, substation 10 + 2 per extra crew member). Paid to your bank right away.
  • Shift target 30 units (+60% per extra crew member). Past it everything pays x1.5 overtime.
  • Hit the target and clock out for a $250 completion bonus. Vehicle not back at the yard = $150 off the bonus.
  • Career tier adds 0-30% to every paycheck, VIP adds its job bonus.
  • Crew: everyone within 35 m of a finished order counts as helping. Members who do less than a quarter of the crew's average get no cut.
  • Homeowners sometimes tip in cash after a rewiring.

Tips

  • Take the nearest order from dispatch to save driving time.
  • Storms are the best money: more orders and x1.5 pay.
  • Bring a crew for substations - they are the biggest single paycheck and everyone on site gets a share.

Staff

  • /electricianplace foreman or /electricianplace bay - move the foreman / vehicle bay to where you stand. /electricianplaces shows every place on the map.
  • /electricianaddpoint street <label> / /electricianaddpoint house <label> - add a junction box / street light point or a house door where you stand. /electriciandelpoint removes the nearest staff-added point.
  • /electricianstorm on|off|auto - force storm callouts on or off for testing (auto = follow the weather).
  • /electricianlevel, /electricianpoints, /electriciancrews, /electricianendshift, /electricianoutfit save|reset <look> - the usual job kit tools. F9 -> Jobs -> Civilian jobs has the same.
