Night City Rentals and the Valet
Renting a car
Rental desks are marked on the map as Night City Rentals:
- Tinsel Towers, outside the apartment lobby
- LSIA Arrivals, at the airport
- Legion Square
Walk up to the desk clerk and press [E] Rent a car. Choose how long you want it (1 hour, 4 hours or 24 hours), pick a car and press Rent. The rent and a deposit come out of your bank. The car is parked beside the desk and you get into it.
You get:
- a rental plate (RENT####) and temporary keys
- Rental Papers in your pockets. Use them to check the car, the plate and how much time is left.
You can hold up to 2 rentals at once.
Storing your rental
You can keep a rental for the whole time you paid for, even when you're not driving it. Park it within 30 m of any rental desk, get everyone out, then press [E] Store rental at the desk on the car (or use Store in the desk menu). To pick it up again, go to any desk and press Retrieve under My rentals. Your time keeps counting down while the car is stored.
Returning it and getting your deposit back
Bring the car back to any desk, get out and press [E] Return rental. You can also return a stored car from the desk menu. Your deposit goes back to your bank, minus:
- fuel: every car leaves the desk full, so you pay a small amount for each % missing
- damage: engine and body damage come off the deposit, and a wrecked car keeps all of it
You get a message telling you what was kept.
Lost your rental? If it was blown up, towed or left somewhere, any desk can tow it back for a $250 recovery fee, which is taken from your deposit.
When the time runs out, the company collects the car wherever it is and you lose your deposit. You get a warning 10 minutes before the end.
Valet
Type /valet, choose Call valet on the radial menu, or press [E] Call the valet at a rental desk. Pick one of the cars parked in your garages and a valet will drive it to you for $2,500. The money comes from your bank, or from cash if your bank is short.
- Stand outdoors near a street. The valet won't come into buildings or other dimensions.
- A Valet blip follows the car. The driver parks next to you, gets out and hands you the keys.
- If the valet gets stuck in traffic, the car is parked beside you instead.
- You can call a valet once every 5 minutes. Cars, bikes and quads only (no boats or aircraft).
- Park the car at any garage afterwards, as usual.
Staff
- F9 > World Spawns > Rentals: move or turn off each desk clerk and each car spot. This restarts the script.
/rentalplace <desk> desk [label]: puts the desk clerk where you stand. A new id creates a new desk, e.g./rentalplace paleto desk Rentals - Paleto./rentalplace <desk> spot <1-8>: sit in a car on the parking spot, facing the way out./rentalplace <desk> off | on | reset: turns a desk off, turns it back on, or resets it to its F9/config spot. These changes apply straight away without a restart./rentaldesks: lists the desks./rentals [id]: lists active rentals, either all of them or one player's./rentalend <plate> [refund]: ends a rental. Addrefundto give the deposit back./rentalextend <plate> <hours>: adds time to a rental./valetreset <id>: clears a player's valet cooldown.
