Heli Tours: Night City Air Tours

Fly tourists over Night City's landmarks from the Vespucci heliport. The smoother you fly, the bigger the tips.

Getting started

  • Find the Night City Air Tours helicopter blip at the Vespucci heliport and press E on Marisol, the tour dispatcher.
  • You need a pilot licence from the DMV. In a crew, at least one person needs one, and whoever flies the tourists must have one.
  • Pick Start shift. You change into the work clothes and a Frogger helicopter spawns on the tour pad. At Captain tier (level 10) you get a Super Volito instead.
  • Crews: up to 2 people. One is the pilot and the other is the guide.

A tour, step by step

  1. Book a tour. Use the Operations board, the dispatcher, or /helitour short|scenic|grand. The Downtown Skyline tour is booked for you when the shift starts. After every landing, the next group books itself with the same tour length.
  2. Board. Sit in the pilot seat on the gold pad marker and stay still. 1 to 3 tourists walk out and get in (the guide takes one seat).
  3. Fly the rings. Fly through each gold ring at its landmark. The faint ring after it is the next one. Each ring has a height band, and the bottom bar shows your altitude next to the ring's target height.
  4. Smoothness. Every ring gets a score out of 100. These cost you points:
  • hard banking
  • steep nose up or down
  • sudden drops
  • any damage
  • arriving very late, which bores the tourists
  1. Land. After the last ring, land back on the tour pad and stop. You get the paycheck card, and the tourists walk off.

The guide

  • After each ring, the guide sees "press I to narrate". Press I (/helinarrate) and pass the quick skill bar. The whole crew sees the landmark fact.
  • Each good narration adds +4% tips, or +6% with a Guide Headset. You have 10 seconds to narrate, or 16 seconds with the headset.

Pay

  • Fare: $18 + $5 per km of route, +15% for each extra tourist. The Hills & Coast tour pays +5% and the Grand Tour +10%.
  • Tips: up to +30% of the fare at 100% smoothness. Below 50% smoothness there are no tips. Below 25% a tourist gets sick: the fare drops 20% and there are no tips.
  • Target: 60 tour km solo (more in a crew). After that you earn overtime x1.5. Finish the shift at the dispatcher to get the $150 completion bonus. The bonus is $250 lower if the helicopter is not back at the heliport.
  • A trainee flying steadily makes about $900 an hour. Higher tiers pay +5% up to +30%.
  • Wrecking the helicopter fails the tour and ends the shift. If the tourists are gone when you land, there is no fare.

Career tiers

Trainee Pilot (1), Tour Pilot (3), Senior Pilot (6), Captain (10, Super Volito), Chief Pilot (14), Air Tours Manager (18).
Level skills:

  • bigger tips
  • Steady hands: fewer smoothness penalties
  • bonus Air Miles

Rewards shop (Air Miles)

  • Coffee, Water, Energy Drink, Crew Sandwich.
  • Tour Brochure: one is handed out per tour, from anyone in the crew, for +10% tips.
  • Guide Headset (tier 2): a longer narration window and bigger narration tips.
  • Gyro Stabiliser (tier 3): banking penalties are halved while anyone in the crew carries it.
  • Parachute (tier 2).
  • Looks: Gold Hi-Vis Vest, Captain's Jacket (tier 4), Chief Pilot Coat (tier 6).

Tips

  • Climb to ring height early, then fly level between rings. Long flat turns score better than sharp banks.
  • Land gently. A scrape on the pad counts toward the last leg's score.

Staff

  • /heliplace dispatcher|pad|lounge moves the dispatcher, the tour pad (also where the helicopter spawns) or the tourist lounge to where you stand.
  • /heliplaces shows every job place on the map.
  • /helilevel <id|citizenid> <lvl> sets a player's job level and /helipoints <id|citizenid> <+/-n> changes their Air Miles.
  • /helicrews lists crews and /heliendshift <crewId> ends a crew's shift.
  • /helioutfit save|reset <look> saves or resets a work look.
  • Everything is also in F9 > Jobs > Civilian jobs.
  • Landmark ring positions are set in config.lua (Config.Landmarks).
