Guides for every part of life in the city.

Garages

Your owned vehicles live in garages. Park a car to keep it safe and take it out again when you need it - it comes out the way you left it. A car you buy at a dealership or the Gem store is registered to Pillbox Garage Parking.

BlipWhat it is
Public ParkingCar parks around the city (Pillbox Garage, Motel, Casino, Airport, Beach, Grapeseed and more)
HangarAirport, Higgins Helitours, Sandy Shores and Fort Zancudo hangars
BoathouseLSYMC, Paleto and Millars boathouses
Big Rig ParkingLots for trucks
Depot Lot (and Air Depot, LSYMC Depot, Big Rig Depot)Where impounded vehicles wait to be collected

Some garages only open for a gang or a job (for example the police lot). If you own a house with a garage, you also get a private house garage there.

1

Parking a vehicle

  1. Drive into a garage area until E - Garage (or Hangar, Boathouse, Rig Lot) shows.
  2. Stay in the vehicle and press E.
2

Taking a vehicle out

  1. Walk into the garage area on foot and press E.
  2. Press Drive on the vehicle you want. It appears at the spawn spot with you in the driver seat and the keys in your pocket.

Garages are not shared - a vehicle comes out only at the garage where you parked it. Check your phone's My Cars app to see where each car is.

3

Finding a vehicle you left outside

  1. Open the garage list where the car is stored and press Out on it.
  2. If the car still exists in the city, a waypoint is set to it. Vehicles left out go back to their garage when the city restarts.
4

Collecting an impounded vehicle

When the police impound your car you get a message with the reason, the release fee and any hold time.

  1. Wait until the hold is over (the police can lift it early).
  2. Go to the Depot Lot (air and boat vehicles go to their own depots), press E and press the button with the price on your vehicle. The fee is taken from your cash, or your bank if you don't have enough.

Costs & rewards

  • Parking and taking out vehicles is free.
  • The impound release fee is set by the officer who impounded it (often around $500).
