Map & Postals
Find your way around Night City - the custom map, postal codes, GPS routes and grouped map blips.
Night City uses its own custom map: a dark navy style with grey and white roads, blue freeways and glowing shorelines, on both the minimap and the full pause map. Printed on it is the city's postal grid - small numbered boxes like 204 that everyone uses to say where they are.
Postals are the clearest way to tell friends, police or EMS where you are, and every 911 and EMS call includes one.
Before you begin
Nothing - every character can use the map and postals.
Opening the map
- Press P to open the full map straight away. ESC closes it.
- Or press ESC and click the map card or the Map tab. ESC from there takes you back to the menu.
- The minimap sits bottom left on foot and in vehicles.
Reading the full map
- Zoomed out you see the whole state with district names and labels for key places like the DMV, Pillbox Hospital, Mission Row PD and the gyms.
- Zoom in and the postal numbers become readable. Faint dashed lines mark the borders between postal regions.
- Cayo Perico is down in the south-east ocean. When you're on the island, your minimap switches to the island's own map.
Postal regions
The first digit of a postal tells you the region:
| First digit | Region |
|---|---|
| 1xx | South Los Santos |
| 2xx | Central Los Santos |
| 3xx | West Los Santos |
| 4xx | East Los Santos |
| 5xx | Vinewood Hills & Tataviam |
| 6xx | Senora & Sandy Shores |
| 7xx | North Blaine & Paleto |
| 8xx | West County & Zancudo |
| 9xx | Airport & Port |
Cayo Perico has no postal boxes of its own.
GPS routes
- Type
/postal 204to set a GPS route to postal 204. - Type
/postalon its own to clear the route. - Type
/postalregionto see your nearest postal and region. - On the full map, move the cursor to a spot and press ENTER (or click) to drop a waypoint. Do the same on it to remove it.
Learn the regions by their first digit and you'll know roughly where a call or meetup is before you open the map. A 6xx call means a drive out to Sandy Shores; a 2xx is right downtown.
Map blips and the legend
Open the full map and look at the legend on the right. Blips are grouped:
- Government Services - police, hospitals, fire, DMV, courthouse
- Mechanics and Car Dealerships
- Clubs & Nightlife and Restaurants & Food
- Shops and Clothing & Style
- Gyms, Housing and Parkour
Player-run businesses use one icon per type. Green means the business is open right now, red means closed. The colour changes within a few seconds of the owner opening or closing up.
Common problems
- The map looks blank, blurry or like the old GTA map - reconnect. If it keeps happening, type
/mapcheck, screenshot the result and send it to staff. - "Postal ... does not exist" - check the number on the map; postals are three digits.
- My route won't clear - type
/postalwith nothing after it. - A business blip has the wrong colour - give it a few seconds; if it stays wrong, tell the owner or staff.
Thanks! Staff will look at it.
