NCRP NIGHT CITY RP

Night City Wiki

Guides for every part of life in the city.

Vibe

Vibe is the city's social app. It replaces the old Bleeter, Snapmatic and Swapmeet apps - everything they did now lives in one place, with a fresh start (nothing carried over from the old apps).

Open your phone and tap Vibe. The bar at the bottom has five tabs:

  • Home - posts from people you follow (Following) or from the whole city (For You), with stories along the top.
  • Media - photos and videos only. Swipe through them full screen or switch to a Grid; the chips filter by For You, Following, Photos, Videos or a #tag.
  • Market - buy and sell (Listings) and the city's business pages (Businesses).
  • DMs - your Vibe chats and message requests.
  • Profile - your page, your settings and switching accounts.

Before you begin

  • A Nova 15 with signal. Vibe needs service like any online app - see The Phone.
  • Bank money for Market listings ($100 each) and for paying through escrow.
1

Make an account

  1. Open Vibe and tap Sign up. Pick a username (your @handle), a display name and a password.
  2. Your account is logged in on that phone, not on your character. Whoever has the phone is logged in as you - a stolen phone stays logged in, so guard it like your wallet.
  3. You can have a few accounts per character, and one phone can hold several logins. On Profile tap Switch account to change between them or log in to another one with its username and password.
2

Post

  1. On Home, tap + Post. Write up to 280 characters and add one photo or one video if you want - pick it from your Photos, import it from your computer, or paste a link to a picture or video. A pasted link is copied into the city and stays up as long as people keep viewing it; after 7 days with no views it is removed and shows "Media no longer available".
  2. Add a poll (2-4 options, open from 1 hour to 3 days) or turn on location to show the area and postal you posted from. Location is off unless you switch it on for that post.
  3. Use #tags so people find it under trending, and @username to mention someone.
  4. On any post you can like, comment (one level of replies), repost it to your followers or quote it with your own text. Save to Photos copies a post's photo or video into your phone.
3

Stories and highlights

  1. Tap Your story at the start of the stories row on Home to post a story - a photo or video with a short caption. Stories disappear after 24 hours.
  2. To keep one, open it and pick Add to highlight, then give the highlight a name. Highlights stay pinned on your profile until you remove them.
4

Profile and privacy

  1. On Profile tap Edit profile to change your picture, banner, display name, bio, link and the business you work at.
  2. Switch on Private account if you only want approved followers. Others then send a follow request, and your posts and stories stay hidden from anyone you have not accepted.
  3. Open the bell to see your notifications. In Vibe settings (the gear on your profile) you can switch each kind on or off: likes and comments, new followers and requests, mentions and DMs, and Market offers and escrow. You can also hide when you have seen a message or are typing.
5

DMs

  1. Open DMs, or the message button on someone's profile, to start a chat. You can send text, a photo, or share a post or a listing card.
  2. Messages from accounts you do not follow land in Requests. Reply (or accept) to move the chat into Chats.
  3. To start a group (up to 20 people), tap the New group button at the top of DMs, name it and add usernames.

Vibe DMs are separate from your SIM's text messages - they belong to the Vibe account, not to your number.

Selling on the Market

Make a listing#

  1. Open Market → Listings and tap + Sell.
  2. Pick a category: Items, Vehicles, Property or Services. Add a title, a price, a description and up to 4 photos.
  3. Selling an item? Pick it from your pockets - the listing gets an In stock tag that shows buyers you really have it. It is checked again when you hand it over.
  4. Choose how you want to deal: Meet-up (you meet and trade in person), Escrow (paid safely through Vibe), or both.
  5. Post it. Each listing costs $100 (cash or bank) and stays up for 7 days; press Renew and pay the fee again to keep it up longer. You can have 6 open listings at a time.

Offers#

  1. Buyers can pay the asking price or send an offer.
  2. As the seller you accept, decline or counter with your own price. The buyer can then accept your counter.
  3. After a meet-up sale press Mark as sold, or let the listing run out.

Escrow#

  1. The buyer presses Buy · escrow. The money comes out of their bank and is held by Vibe - nobody has it yet.
  2. Meet up and make the trade. The seller presses I handed it over, the buyer presses I received it. Only confirm once it has really happened.
  3. When both have confirmed, the seller is paid.
  4. If you have not both confirmed within 48 hours, the buyer gets the money back automatically.
  5. Something wrong? Either side can Open a dispute and explain what happened. Staff look at the trade and either pay the seller or refund the buyer.
  6. After a finished trade, rate the seller from 1 to 5 stars. The average shows on their listings and profile.

A meet-up only deal has no protection - the money and the item change hands in person, at your own risk. Use escrow if you don't trust the other person.

Weapons can be listed on the Market too. Remember that the police can investigate listings - selling a gun on Vibe is not a secret.

Businesses and ads

Market → Businesses lists every player business with its page, followers, and a Hiring badge when it is taking applications. Follow a business to see its posts in your feed.

Business owners and the top two ranks of a business can write ads for it in three places - they all edit the same ads:

  • the Vibe Ads page on the F7 business tablet,
  • the same page on the business's office computer,
  • the Vibe Business app on their phone (it only shows up for owners and the top two ranks).

An ad has text, an optional picture and a button (Page only, See jobs or Call us). Posting it on the business page is free. Sponsoring an ad puts it in everyone's Home feed marked Sponsored for $500 a day, paid from the business bank. See Owning a Business for running the business itself.

Reporting

Every post, comment, story, listing, account and message has a Report option. Reports go to staff. Vibe also blocks some words and links to real-world websites in posts, comments, DMs and bios.

Photos, clips and uploads

Vibe uses the photos and videos in your phone's Photos app - take them with the Camera (photos or short clips), or bring them in from your computer. How that works is on The Phone.
