Fuel & Repairs
Cars use fuel and their parts wear out: engine, brakes, clutch / gearbox, tyres, suspension, radiator and battery, plus the bodywork. Driving flat out and crashes wear them faster. There are no repair kits in the city - cars are fixed by mechanics.
Before you begin
- Cash for fuel - pumps and jerry cans don't take card.
- Money for repairs - phone invoice at a player shop, card at an NPC garage.
Filling up at a gas station
Gas stations show as Gas Station blips on the map.
- Park with the pump on the left side of your car (the fuel cap side).
- Third eye (hold Left Alt) on the pump → Get nozzle, then on your car → Attach Nozzle. If you see "The vehicle tank is on the other side", turn the car around.
- Third eye on the pump → Put fuel, type the litres (or the price) and press Refill.
- The nozzle goes back by itself.
Using a jerry can
- Third eye on a pump → Buy Jerry Can. You get a
Petrol Can holding 40 litres.
- Hold the can like a weapon, third eye on the car → Refill Fuel.
- To top the can up, hold it at a pump and pick Refill Jerry Can.
Getting repaired at a player shop
Player mechanic shops have a wrench blip:
Live from the city
AutoexoticNo owner yet - apply!
Sandy Shores MechanicNo owner yet - apply!
Tuner Auto ShopNo owner yet - apply!
- Drive in while the shop is open, or call it: Phone → Services → the shop's line.
- The mechanic checks your car and sends you a work order. Pay it: Phone → Fleeca → invoices.
- Stay with them while they work. A quick patch is cheap but only brings a part up to about 60%; a new part is usually 100%, and better tiers make the car faster.
- When everything is done you get "Your car is ready" and an e-mail.
When no mechanic is on duty
- Drive to an NPC garage: Hayes Autos (NPC) or Paleto Garage (NPC) (grey wrench blips).
- Park in the bay, third eye on the NPC → Ask for a repair → Pay by card.
The NPC only works while no player mechanic is on duty and charges about double. Broken down and nobody answers the shop's phone? After a couple of minutes you're offered an NPC tow to the nearest NPC garage.
Car wash
Drive into a shop's wash bay while it's open, press E at Car wash and pay.
Warning lights
- Warning lights on the HUD (above the seatbelt and cruise icons) cover each part: yellow means worn, blinking red means almost dead. ODO under your speed is the mileage.
- Your garage list shows each car as Good, Worn or Bad. Phone → My Cars shows condition, mileage, where the car is and its service log.
