Mayor Lorenzo Romano

Lorenzo Romano was shot and killed as he was being sworn in as mayor of Los Santos on January 1, 1984. Many people believe his death set the founding of Night City in motion, though no one knows exactly how.

The Assassination

Mayor Romano was shot during his swearing-in. The police quickly identified the sniper, Winston Wilcox, but he disappeared before they could arrest him and was later found dead in a sewer. He turned out to be only a hired hitman, and no evidence ever connected anyone else to the killing. See Winston Wilcox.

Romano and the Morettis

A conspiracy theory says Mayor Romano and the Moretti family had been feuding for years. It has never been proven. Some believe they witnessed tension between the mayor and Matteo Moretti; others believed the two men shared an unbreakable friendship.
