Roleplay Rules
A short summary of the in-city rules. The full rules are at nightcityrp.com/rules and win if the two disagree. Out-of-character rules: Community Rules.
The Golden Rule: protect the roleplay experience. Give other players a fair chance to take part, respond and build their own stories.
Violence and value of life
- Violence needs a believable roleplay reason and real interaction first. No random attacks (RDM), no vehicles as casual weapons (VDM).
- Value your life. Outnumbered, restrained, badly hurt or at gunpoint limits what your character can realistically try.
- Roleplay injuries. While unconscious, don't pass on information or direct your friends.
New life
- After a respawn that counts as a new life, don't go back to the same conflict, collect gear from it or use memories of it for revenge.
- A medical revival continues your story - roleplay your injuries.
- Nobody can declare your character permanently dead on their own.
Scenes
- Don't disconnect, switch characters, hide in menus or use interiors to escape an active scene (combat logging). After a real crash, reconnect and carry on.
- Don't provoke police or a group just to start a fight.
- Settle rule disagreements after the scene with a ticket (Support Tickets), never with revenge.
Crime, hostages and heists
- Hostages must be real, independent players.
- Give people a fair chance to respond before restraining or moving them.
- Demands must be realistic and never involve real-world value.
- Follow each activity's police requirement, group size and cooldown. Don't farm the same person.
Gangs and factions
- Official factions are approved by staff through a ticket.
- A colour, outfit or neighbourhood alone is not a reason to attack.
- Keep faction disputes in character.
Green zones and KOS
- Green zones protect services and new-player areas. No robberies, kidnappings, threats or attacks inside one, and don't run into one to end a chase.
- Cayo Perico is KOS (Kill on Sight). You can be attacked there without warning and police and EMS will not respond. Every other rule still applies.
Police and EMS players
- Use authority for believable roleplay and follow your department's procedures.
- Never fake evidence or misuse restricted systems.
- Attacking responders still needs a real roleplay reason.
