Spawning

How the spawn picker works, where you can appear, the first-spawn rules for new characters and logging out safely.

Getting Started3 min read

Every time you press Play on the character screen, the spawn picker opens so you choose where your character appears. A satellite camera looks straight down on the city and you pick a location card.

Brand-new characters skip the picker on their very first spawn - they appear once at the city's welcome point instead.

Before you begin

Nothing - every character can use the spawn picker. The Your apartment and Your property cards only show if you own one.

Choosing a spawn

  1. Look at the location cards - 3 per page, with Previous / Next buttons and Page x of y.
  2. Click a card once - the camera glides to that place so you can check it.
  3. Scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in and out.
  4. Click the same card again (or press ENTER) to spawn there.
  5. You can also step through the cards with ← / →.

Your very first spawn

  1. After the identity form, the screen fades and you appear at the city's welcome point.
  2. You make your look in the appearance editor - nobody else is visible while you do this.
  3. Press COMPLETE and the city fades in around you. A message tells you that next time you can pick where you spawn.
  4. You are also given a starter apartment (notification + home blip) - you are not sent inside it.

From your second login onwards the normal spawn picker opens every time.

4

Logging out

  1. Get somewhere safe - your apartment is best.
  2. Press ESC → Exit → Disconnect and confirm. Your character is saved where you are standing.

Logging out to escape roleplay (a chase, an arrest, a robbery) is against the rules. Finish the scene first - see Roleplay Rules.

Common problems

  • I can't see Last Location - it only shows when the game saved a position for that character.
  • I fell through the floor after spawning - wait a few seconds for the area to load. If you're stuck, use /report.
  • I spawned frozen or in the air - reconnect and pick the spawn again, then tell staff which card you used.
  • My apartment card is missing - you need an apartment first. See apartments.
